Jonathan Turns 4...

well not technically. His birthday is next Tuesday but we decided to have Jonathan's party on Friday morning at 10 am. Why? It was all because of Jason's schedule. Tuesday is meeting day at the church and he decided to move choir practice to Tuesday (Jonathan's birthday) instead of keeping it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It worked better for everyone if we had the party on Friday.

So Thursday evening I'm making....

this beautiful, wonderful, and awesome dinosaur cake.
He told me months ago that he wanted a dinosaur cake, so I started searching on the Internet for instructions on how to make one, just to see if it was even going to be possible. I was very pleased to find a website that took you step by step and showed pictures of what the cake was suppose to look like for each step. The instructions also stated it was a great cake for beginners. So I thought, Perfect! I didn't attempt a trail run, I jumped right in. After I had baked my 2 9 inch cakes, I carefully carved them into a dinosaur. Every time Jonathan came into the kitchen he would give me wonderful compliments. "Mommy, my cake looks awesome." Then when I put the first layer of green icing, "Mommy, my cake is beautiful." Really the compliments kept coming. He was very encouraging because at times the cake looked like a frog, then a lizard, and I was beginning to wonder if it was going to turn out ok when the head wouldn't stay on. I did come to the conclusion that it's cake and icing, no matter what it looks like the kids will love it and eat it. Jonathan was so happy when he saw it the next morning completely finished. He Loved it. It took 7 hours from start to finish, but I think it was well worth it.

The next morning: Party time at Chuck E. Cheese
Apparently Chuck E Cheese had just switched out most of their games, so the managers were there and testing them out. They were leaving long strands of tickets all over the floor, so we asked if the boys could have them. They said, Sure. So Jonathan ended up with over 600 tickets!! Which is really unheard of, normally we have around 3o.
Having fun

Then it was time for cake, Chuck E Cheese, and presents!
As soon as I put the cake in front of Jonathan, this is what he did.

I can't believe there are 4 candles on the cake.
They loved eating the head and tail of a dinosaur.

"Happy Birthday Big Brother"
"I Love Chuck E. Cheese!!!"

As soon as Jaden saw Chuck E. Cheese he squealed with delight.
The next picture is not that great, but I love Jaden's expression. He was finally close enough to Chuck and petted him the entire time we were taking pictures. He was fascinated.

The song Jonathan has been singing and will be singing for several days:
"Happy Birthday to Jonathan!"
We celebrated Friday, his preschool class will celebrate with him on Monday, and Jason is going to take him to breakfast and we'll do something fun for lunch on Tuesday.
