Before and After

Since you now know that we are moving into our new home, I have been searching websites and blogs for decorating ideas. I have paint samples all over the kitchen table trying to figure out if I should go with Garden of Paradise for Jonathan's room and Blueprint for the bathroom? Would you paint all the Master Bedroom/ Bath walls, Gentle Pasture or Prairie Brush? Ceiling fans, what kind of window treatments? We have a sliding glass door so what type of fabric do you choose, pattern or solid color? So many choices to be made in the next couple of weeks.
Anyway, I have become fascinated with blogs that have brilliant ideas of how to get items at a Goodwill price or very cheap and turn it into a Pottery Barn look. I stumbled across one blog looking for painting ideas and ended up looking at it for a couple of hours.
So I decided to try it myself. While Jonathan was at preschool, Jaden and I took a trip to Goodwill and here's what we found.
The candle sticks were .99 each, a nasty "New Mexican" color combination but a great shape. And the popcorn boxes (will not be used in decorating) were .59, normally 1.00 at Target and the price tag was still on them. They will be perfect for movie night. The country basket I already had.

So here's my idea. Normally I wouldn't decorate the laundry room but in our new house, everyone who comes from the garage will go through the laundry room to enter the rest of the house. I am thinking of painting the walls a darker khaki with black accents. The basket was already in the laundry room. It is the perfect size for storing light bulbs, rubber gloves, etc..... The idea in my head is a very classy laundry room, so that's where the candle sticks come into play.
All I needed was a can of black spray paint

Much Better
Not a Pottery Barn look but just the beginning of our laundry room.
